With an MBA from MIT and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Tokyo, Tak Umezawa brings more than 30 years of experience at Kearney, spanning both its Japan and U.S. offices, where he has advised companies on strategy, innovation, marketing, organizational transformation, and urban development.As Chairman of CIC Japan, he led the launch of CIC Tokyo, one of the largest startup hubs in Japan. Today, CIC Japan operates two campuses in Tokyo and Fukuoka and works with approximately 450 member companies to foster innovation communities across diverse fields such as life sciences, environment, and energy. In May 2026, CIC Japan is scheduled to open Osaka Life Science Nexus (O-Nexus), a life-science–focused innovation hub in Osaka.Umezawa also serves as a member of the Cabinet Office’s Intellectual Property Strategy Headquarters and as a member of the Strategic Promotion Council for the Moonshot Research and Development Program.
